My Fellow students, I hereby welcome you to this grand institution, The University of Technology, Jamaica. This is a place where multiple opportunities present themselves; however I am here to guide you in making the most feasible choices in regards to your academics; and provide you with information where it is desired. I have been appointed to serve for the academic year 2012/2013. Within my portfolio I work meticulously with the 1st Vice president of Academics Affairs, Clubs & Societies; we are concerned with all academics affairs of the students within the University. Even though my portfolio is academic oriented, I will make every effort to advise you on any area that I may be knowledgeable and competent. I am very open-minded, approachable, honest, and sociable and I am a fun individual, so feel free to approach me for advice of any sort.
As the great Albert Einstein said, “Intellectuals solve problems and geniuses prevent them” let us prevent any problem that may hinder academic excellence throughout your time here at UTech. I believe that God has given me the knowledge; the competence and the qualities that are necessary to prevent difficulties that may arise from academic mishaps. It is often times asked why do I need advice, the famous Bill gates said “We were young, but we had good advice and good ideas and lots of enthusiasm.” Advice and enthusiasm work simultaneously to make you better and better your choices.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to the University of Technology, Jamaica. It is both an honor and a privilege to welcome you to this amazing institution. If you are anything like I was when I started, you are sitting there feeling a million different emotions and asking yourself a million different questions. “Did I make the right choice?” (without a doubt); “Is this worth the sacrifices I have made to get here?” (absolutely); and perhaps as you have already heard, you are not the admissions mistake. In fact, I can assure each and every one of you that you are here because you deserve to be, and because you can bring something new and exciting to this diverse learning community.
