College of Health Sciences Reaching Out to the Less Fortunate

Members of The College of Health Sciences from UTech, Jamaica Students’ Union share a moment  with students of the Hope Valley Experimental School as they received their tokens with joy and appreciation.

 

The College of Health Sciences ended the month of September with an outreach initiative coordinated by the Director of Community Service-Shaneeta Thompson, and Assistant-Gaysharee Housen.

This September 29th, 2016 initiative was sponsored by the Kingston Bookshop. Over 20 students received stationery gifts, after careful selection by the Guidance Counselor.

The project was fully endorsed by the principal and other members of staff, and based on the feedback by the recipients, the project was a success. “It’s always nice to see the kids smile” – Odean Forbes, COHS Rep

The team expressed that they intend on making this outreach an annual project by COHS, however, those plans are not yet finalized.
