UTech, Ja. Students’ Union in association with JNWay held its financial and Academic Forum yesterday, September 15th, under the theme, “Providing a Platform for Academic and Financial Empowerment.” Agencies such as: The Student Loan Bureau (SLB), Jamaica National Building Society and Student Services department were invited to participate in this forum with representatives providing vital information to students regarding the financial and academic challenges.
Student Loan Bureau representative, Miss Olivia McLennon, said, “Student Loan Bureau now operates a fully function Facebook and Twitter page for students so we can attend to their questions.” Students’ Union President, Dimitri McGregor, advises students to seek financial assistance before something critical happens. McGregor gave information on Academic Forgiveness, Module Withdrawal and Grants.
There was a question-and-answer session in which students were given the opportunity to state their academic or financial problems, and members from the panel would address them.
